The new Mercedes-Benz Sprinter has been voted Irish Van of the Year 2014.
In the annual Continental Irish Van of the Year awards competition, members of the Irish Motoring Writers Association voted Sprinter ‘The Best Van in Ireland’ amongst those launched in Ireland ahead of the 2014 market.
At a glittering awards ceremony held in Dublin, attended by leading figures from the Irish motor industry, the Chairman of the Irish Motoring Writers Association, Mr. Gerry
Murphy presented Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles sales manager in Ireland, Fergus Conheady with the award – a finely crafted work in Irish silver and marble which the company will retain.
The success for Mercedes-Benz achieved by the new Sprinter replicates the achievement of its predecessor which also won the Irish Van of the Year award in the year of its introduction. Since then, the popular Vito was also recognized with the 2011 Irish Van of the Year award.
Voting for the Sprinter, the Irish Motoring Writers Association van jury acknowledged its superiority across a range of criteria that included safety, driving quality, reliability, versatility and value-for-money.
In thanking the IMWA members for their vote, Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles sales manager Fergus Conheady said: ‘we are very proud to have been chosen once again as Ireland's best van, an achievement in step with that of previous years in which each generation of Sprinter launched in Ireland was honoured with the award.’
