The Kassel plant

The central city of Kassel, in northern Hessen, lies in the heart of Germany–
and thus right in the centre of Europe. Thanks to its central location, the city has direct links
to many principal transport routes. A tradition of expertise and culture. Kassel traditionally provides its approx. 200,000 inhabitants with a wide-ranging programme of art and culture. Kassel’s industrial tradition of engineering and science is no less impressive - it goes back 200 years. At the same time, the Kassel plant is the largest industrial employer in the city.

The Kassel plant’s expertise in truck production dates back to 1925. Since that time, the demands on axles have risen in parallel with the advancements in vehicle development. The plant today employs some
3000 employees working in an area of 400,000 m2. The location, which is serves as the central production point
for commercial vehicle axles for Daimler AG, is the global lead plant.

The Mercedes-Benz plant in Kassel produces complete systems solutions
of the highest quality for a very wide range of commercial vehicle types, such as vans, trucks, buses and coaches or heavy-duty transporters. In addition to this, axles for off-road vehicles, semitrailers, trailer units and drive shafts all form part of our wide-ranging product programme.
