The battery is always charged with direct current (DC) as available directly from DC rapid charging stations. Thanks to this high charging capacity, range can quickly be increased. When charging at wallboxes or from the domestic grid the vehicle is charged with alternating current (AC). This is converted in the vehicle to DC current by an AC on-board charger before being fed into the battery.
