Ambition 2039

Our goals up to 2039.

By 2039, our entire fleet of new vehicles is to be net carbon-neutral along the entire value change and during the entire life cycle – from development, extraction of raw materials and production to the utilisation phase and recycling.

Since 2022

Since 2022, Mercedes-Benz's own vehicle production sites have been net carbon-neutral. There are battery-electric vehicles in all markets in which the brand is represented.

2025

All new vehicle architectures will be exclusively electric, and there will be a choice of fully electric alternatives for each model.

2030

"Electric only": by the end of the decade, Mercedes-Benz will be ready to go fully electric – wherever market conditions permit.

2039

Our ambition: by 2039, our entire fleet of new vehicles is to be net carbon-neutral along the entire value chain.

Electric drivetrain

Powerful technology.

The electric drivetrain is the centrepiece of Mercedes-Benz electric vans. Technologies customised to the respective vehicle and its intended use are used. What they all have in common is their high level of efficiency. Find out more about how the components of the electric drive work together here.

Electric motor

Compared to conventional combustion engines, electric motors are generally characterised by their high efficiency. Maximum torque is available the moment the motor starts turning – and the motor runs almost silently without any noticeable gear changes. The eSprinter is a highlight among the electric vans from Mercedes-Benz: its electric drive train (eATS) is based on a particularly efficient permanent magnet synchronous motor (PSM).

Regenerative brake system

All electric vans from Mercedes-Benz have selectable recuperation levels, which can be used to set the extent to which the vehicle needs to reduce its speed when the accelerator pedal is no longer pressed. During this deceleration, part of the kinetic energy is fed back into the high-voltage battery, which can have a positive effect on the range. Recuperation is not a substitute for braking – you continue to brake as usual with the brake pedal.

Driving with carbon-neutral emissions. With an electric van, you are making your contribution to the mobility of the future. As no fuel is burnt, there are no local CO2 emissions – and you are free to drive in low-emission zones. With a Mercedes-Benz, you can go even further, as production of all electric vans is net carbon-neutral. Button
Unrivalled driving experience. A perhaps unexpected advantage: the quiet, smooth and direct feel at the wheel. Thanks to the electric drivetrain, you can enjoy smooth acceleration with full torque from the very first second. This not only ensures efficiency, but also a lot of driving pleasure. Button
Range suitable for everyday use. Thanks to different battery variants for almost all models, you can customise your Mercedes-Benz electric van to suit your needs. Choose from more battery capacity for a longer range or a lower battery weight for a higher payload. This means that tours beyond the urban environment or with heavier loads are also possible. Button
Flexible charging options. On the road or overnight at the company premises – once you've got used to charging, it's pretty much second nature. The Mercedes-Benz Wallbox or a charging solution customised by Mercedes-Benz at your company premises makes charging particularly easy and convenient. On the road, you can quickly gain new range at fast-charging stations. Button
Progressive aura. With an electric van, you not only get a reliable partner for your day-to-day work, you also invest in the future of your business. It embodies the professional aura of a Mercedes-Benz – and makes pioneering, sustainable drive a matter of course. Button
Simple and transparent public charging. With Mercedes me Charge, you have one of the largest charging networks in the world at your disposal – and maximum cost transparency. Registering just once gives you access to all providers in the Mercedes me Charge network. Mercedes me Charge does the central billing and cost overview for you. Button
Green Charging Whenever you charge with Mercedes me Charge in Europe, Mercedes-Benz uses proof of origin to ensure it is subsequently offset with green electricity. Button
Make use of grants. In many cases, switching to electric vans can also pay off financially. Depending on the region, various grants covering part of the purchase price and tax benefits are available, which can further reduce the total cost of ownership. Button

GenuineParts v. Non-genuine parts Seemingly genuine: look out for counterfeit parts. Your Mercedes-Benz service partner protects you from counterfeit products. Because unfortunately, where it says Mercedes-Benz on the outside, it doesn't always say Mercedes-Benz on the inside. Counterfeiters are increasingly specialising in copying vehicle replacement parts. In the process, safety-relevant parts such as brake discs and pads, windscreen wipers, windscreens, chassis parts or filters are increasingly being copied. Counterfeit parts often seem deceptively genuine, to the point that not even experts can easily identify them at first glance.
